Ingredients
1 cup rice, soaked
1 small onion, diced
1 1/2 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon salt
Preparation
Step 1
Soak 1 cup of rice in cold water for approximately 30 minutes.
Step 2
In a large saucepan, heat 1 1/2 tablespoon of oil on medium heat. Stir in onions. Once onions are soft (translucent) add in 1 1/2 cups of boiled water and 1 teaspoon of salt. Allow to boil for 1 minute.
Tip: use a kettle to boil water.
Step 3
Drain rice from Step 1 and add into large saucepan. Give the rice a quick stir using a wooden spoon. Bring to boil (high heat) for 1 minute.
Step 4
Cover and allow rice to cook on medium-low (control knob set to #4) for 10 minutes.
Step 5
Turn down heat to low (control knob set to #2) and allow rice to continue cooking for 10 minutes or once all the water has evaporated.
Step 6
Turn off stove top and let the rice sit for 15 minutes.
Step 7
Using a wooden spoon fold rice from bottom to top. Serve and enjoy!
